Benjamyn 2, Jordan 2, Ishak 2, Tyson 1.
Best Players : Team effort.
Awards :CIVIC- Jake S. CANTEEN- Brandon. SUBWAY- Benjamyn.
McDonalds- Tommy.
Lion of the Week. Big Jack- this big bloke has improved out of
sight in the past month. Rucking, full forward or his new favorite
position full back. Jack stopped numerous goals on Sunday and
played a major part in setting up two goals from full back. Quick
thinking sent his team mates off, with linking play resulting in
great goals. Well done Big guy.
Harry- “the velvet sledge hammer”. Talk about tough at the ball,
never taking a sideway step. Harry loves his ruck and with a
little help from one of the Cowboy’s his rucking and kicking has
really come a long way. Keep up the hard work at training, it
defiantly shows on game day. Well done Harry.
Match Summary : It was nice to be at home, it seems months since
we had a home game. The kids got the jump over Carrum Downs in the
first and never looked back. There was a couple of outstanding
pieces of play that made my day, if not week. The way the kids
moved the ball between them with linking hand balls and short
kicking, the team work and the finishing made me very proud. Keep
up the hard work at training and reap the rewards kids. Well done
to you all, each and every one of you make this team.
GO LIONS.......

We travelled down to Jubilee Park to take on Frankston YCW , and the
scoreboard did not truly reflect the closeness of the game.
We started the day with 16 kids due to two no shows and Jack Kelly's
retirement due to a troublesome knee.
We once again put up a much improved showing and were only three
goals down at halftime , but a failure to fully take advantage of the
strong breeze in the last quarter really cost us in the end. However we
were very competitive for three quarters , largely due to greatly
improved performances from Jesse Stack , Jake Harston and Jaidyn
Riordan. These three guys each played their best games for the year ,
with much improved attack on the ball which was really pleasing to see.
Jake kicked the first goal of the game which was a ripper and showcased
his pace. Was great to see how the confidence of these three boys grew
as the match progressed.
Dylan played an absolute blinder for the third week in a row and his
pace and strength was a clear advantage - he has now put in close to 3
BOG performances on the trot. The opposition coach even commented
on how well he played. Well done Dylan and keep it up ( and work on
your kicking!!)
Sean Fisher did everything right and drove the ball deep into attack as
instructed. He is also enjoying a terrific run of form.
Big Jack tried hard all day and continually presented as an option - his
leadership qualities are shining through and he leads by example. He is
very rarely beaten in a one on one marking contest , but the problem is
that we don't get it down to him enough. He is turning into a VERY
talented player.
Bailey and Joel battled hard and tackled everything that came their way
as they usually do , and Cody worked hard all day in the ruck again.
This week is our "grand final" - a game that we have identified as one
where we have a real chance to win against Chelsea YCW. Our team is
generally not very well supported , and although our results are not as
good as some other teams in the club , the effort is equal to any. THE
BOYS WOULD APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT OF ANY PLAYERS /
SUPPORTERS FROM THE OTHER AGE GROUPS THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO
MAKE IT DOWN AND CHEER THE BOYS ON TO WHAT IS HOPEFULLY OUR
FIRST WIN FOR THE SEASON.
Finally , thanks again to Jake , Cam , Mitch and Charlie from the 13's for
topping up the numbers - it is greatly appreciated and you are all little
champions!
This week : Chelsea YCW at home
Go Lions!!

Goal kickers:
Andrew Mc Cormick 4, Mat Hart 3, Ben Corrie 2, Charles Orchard 2, Ben Turner 2
~ and 1 each Dan Bell, Lockie Dobson, Jackson Fry, Elliot Greenway and Blake Hicks.
Best Players:
Mat Hart, Waanunga Kelly-Nagas, Blake Hicks, The Mc’s Shane & Andrew, Lockie
Dobson, Ben Turner.
Lion/s of the Week/s:
Dan Bell (Dingers) A young lad who has been working very hard on his game and is
starting to show some of the fine form he was at the start of the season, which would be
fantastic for our side marching into the finals!
Match Awards:
* Ben Corrie (Benefits) ~ Runs like a madman up and down his wing for every minute of
every quarter!
*Wananunga (Sparkles) ~ Emerging on-baller who is now realising that he has only been
dipping his toes into his talent well. Watch this lad ~ improving with every match and so
much more ability to be resourced!
*Shane Mc Cormick (Smack) ~ Lined up at the important Full Back and was besieged from
the start! Popped a shoulder early which had to be taped up and hastily rejoined the fight at
Centre Half Back to help halt the foes forays forward and ultimately helped turn the tide of
the battle. To those whom quickly forget why he is in our Leadership Group, this is the sort
of deed that Shane does for the team without hesitation and fanfare.
Training Award:
Steve Kat (TC) Possesses a mature & professional approach towards training, and
hates to miss a session.
100 Games ~ Alex Bollen (TANK) Unfortunately this brave Spartan can’t remember most
of the match after losing a gladiatorial stoush against 2 foe ~ esp with one combatant armed
with a Shirt Front!
* Evil Chicken Award Mat Hart, Wunga, Jacko~lack of discipline costs the team! NOT
HAPPY
Match Summary: Revenge Tastes Sweet
School Holidays and a drop in focus on the training track nearly cost us in this
Grudge Match.
The foe jumped us and we were not tuned in, slow and playing individual and dumb
footy!
A late goal in the dying seconds of the 1st quarter for us may have been the most
important for the day, it dampened the opponents morale within the ranks a little
whilst they enjoyed the 1st break.
Moves had to be made to get some “good fuel” in our engine room to spark
something ~ to reverse the momentum and get our machine rolling ~ special
mention to Blake, Shane, Wheels and Harty.
To our credit, once we got going and played somewhat to our game plan, we could
not be stopped and completely over run the foe! In the end we had gouged out of
the conflict a good victory.
Thanks to the 3 lads who stepped up from the 15’s, without you guys the day may
have not gone to plan.
OK, we must get back to our standard training regime and get our selves primed
for the next month of footy, if we do ~ look out to all that try to stand in our
path! E tan e epi tas!
