Lion of the Week. Tye Jonas

Match Summary:

Well done, best game all year. It’s great when it’s really hard to pick a

best player.

The overall team effort was pleasing to see that we don’t rely on the

older boys to star every week.

Next week LAST home game.

Don’t forget the big 40th anniversary 80’s party this Saturday.

Next Rd.  Game played at Home. CPL V  CARRUM DOWNS RED

U9 Blue
 Rd12
Lion of the week,Riley A and Nick W

We played Langwarren White who is a very good team. They

started with a strong wind kick plenty of goals. To our credit we

dominated the next quarter with the wind with all the play. Our

back line did a terrific job restricting the opposition with the wind in

the 3 rd quarter and running the game out strong in last.

It’s to difficult to single out any individuals as all the kids are

playing very well as a team. Our oppositions have had some very

good players, but we out played them all with team work. All the

kids have developed and understand how to play different

positions whether it on-ball, backline or up forward. The kids

understand that every position on the ground is as important as the

next.

I’m sure every parent can see their childs development and

prepared to play as a team with short passing, handballs and

always looking for a team mate instead of kicking to packs.

We have 2 more games to go (excluding the other U9 team) and

I’m sure with some good work on the training track, we can

improve more before the seasons end.

Well done kids!
Noel

Best Players : Team effort.

Awards : CIVIC- Angus. CANTEEN- Mitchell. SUBWAY- Nicholas.

McDONALDS- Kyle.

Lion of the Week. Peter- this big bloke plays some important

positions in our team each week. Always happy to do the hard jobs

and love to bust up a pack. One of the best at training each week.

Keep up the hard work Peter.

Junior- we couldn’t have one with out the other. Junior also plays

very well in the ruck and never scared to have a go at the hard

ball. Just needs to use that big body to his advantage a little

more often. Very relaxed. Good work Junior.

Brandon- he is defiantly getting loader and loader. He can snap a

goal at full forward or tap to his mates from the ruck. Brando’s

game has improve greatly as the year has gone on. Practice those

kick’s and reap the rewards. Well done Brando.

Match Summary : The wind, the wind........ we found out it was a

6-7 goal wind from the U9’s game with all the play down one end.

So we were surprised when Langy kicked into the wind in the first

quarter. We used the wind to our advantage and kick straight and

long producing some great goals. But the best quarters were into

the wind, with the kids running the ball around the wings to get

some hard fought goals. The back line also did a brilliant job of

stopping the flow of play when Langy had the wind. Well done again

to all the kids. Unselfish, disciplined and courageous are a few

words that spring to mind. Keep up the hard work.

Lion of the Week. Kane Martello

Match Summary : A disappointing first qtr left us 46 points behind at quarter time but to

the credit of the boys they worked harder and got themselves back into the game and

went down by 16 points in a game we could easily have pinched in the last quarter. A

fantastic effort from Kane at Full Back and he was joined by James in the back pocket as

they repelled many attacks. Well done to the midfield on fighting you way back into the

game and this included Jack, Jacko, Campbell, Chuckles and Mitch. Lets aim for two

wins to finish the year off and make sure we are all at training for the last four nightrs.

Best players: Johnno , Julian , Sean , Josh ,  Dylan , Cody ,  Jesse , Max , Charlie

Match Summary:

The drought has broken - the mighty CPL under 14's opened their account for the

season in Sunday's round 12 clash against Chelsea YCW.

It was a hard fought win, set up when we kept YCW goalless in the first quarter

despite having the advantage of a strong breeze.

We took control in the second quarter and from there on we were never headed.

We led by as much as four goals throughout the game , but to YCW's credit they kept

coming at us and we eventually got the chocolates by 8 points , after a late charge by

our opponents.

Our effort was evident for four quarters , and we stuck to the plan and let the

scoreboard look after itself.

Our two ball magnets , Johnno and Julian ran hard all day both offensively and

defensively as instructed , and were last seen at training Monday night with late

onset leather poisoning (if symptoms persist come and see me boys as i may have a

few vials of antidote left from when i played)

Sean stuck to his task all day at CHB and never put a foot wrong, clearly taking the

points against a dangerous opponent.

Dylan was going for his 4th BOG performance in a row ,and was once again

impenetrable in defence. He keeps his balance and stays on his feet when his

opponents go to ground - a very good trait to have. He wasn't BOG on Sunday but
certainly wasn't far from it. He has taken massive steps as a footballer this year.

Josh Fithall was hard at it again , taking on the opposition and drilling the ball long

time and again. His attack on the ball is second to none and he runs hard and

straight. One torp from full back in the last quarter was an absolute ripper , clearing

the pack and coming to a stop on the wing.

Jesse Stack continued his improvement with some important touches , excellent use

of his body and played some good team footy.

Special mention once more to the under 13's  that once again filled in so we could

field a full side:

Max Naughtin - Riewoldt  who top scored with 3 majors , Mitchell "Junk Yard Dog"

King ( a long time favorite of the coach) who just loves a gold old fashioned scrap ,

Charlie-Luke  Power - Martello , who was in everything , taking overhead marks and

whose skills really shone in the wet , Big Jack Frazier who used his lack of size to

advantage in the conditions and corners like an Italian sports car , and the Golden

Greek Cam Koutoufides - Neale-opolous who never has to be asked twice to play

when we are short.

You boys were great and many thanks from all of the under 14's.

Finally to the supporters from other CPL teams that came down ( and hung around in

the wet ) to cheer the boys on , it was great to see and did not go un-noticed. It was

fantastic to sing the song in a crowded change room - a very pleasant change.

Next week : v Edi Rovers (away)

Under 16:
Rnd : 12         Away           Score : CPL 6-12-48 v. Frankston YCW 9-7-61

Goal kickers:
Mat Hart 2 and 1 each Dan Bell, Andrew Mc Cormack, Jackson Fry, Charles Orchard.
Best Players:
Blake Hicks, Charles Orchard, Mat Hart, Shane McCormack, Brent Ross, Angus Johnstone.

Lion/s of the Week/s:
Brent Ross (Brentieee ~ Not Ferret!) An in under hard working old fashioned courageous rover!
Not only does he get knocked down (and always gets up for another effort) he gets a lot of the ball!
Angus (McTabish) Another “Seasoned Campaigner” who is starting to run into some form at the
right end of the season in terms of our Finals Campaign. He has a great footy brain and skills, and
can play forward, back or on the wing. Could easily play on ball with an improved fitness level.

Match Awards:

*Charles Orchard(Chuckles) ~ Skipper, form improving and just ran all day till he couldn’t breath!
*Kyle Foster (Nickname WIP) ~ Our no nonsense backman & tagger~did a job on dangerous opponent!
*Steve Kat (TC) Battled for 4 quarters, with his last a fantastic display of clean footy in shock’n conditions!

Training Award:
Ben Corrie (Benefits) Professional and never misses, pleasure to coach!

* Evil Chicken Award Mr Jacko~lack of discipline costs the team!

Match Summary:      The Swirling Sky was as dark as the omens prior to the contest!
The Plague had ripped through our ranks and as we drew closer to the contest men fell by the roadside to ultimately leave us with depleted and unfit unit. (Note: thanks for the lads playing up). Excuses aside we still had a list that could get the job done, but we took too long in adjusting to new positions, adverse weather and conditions and waiting for the passengers within ranks to hop on board to help with the fight!

Match Run Down: 1st quarter against the gale was our worst performance in our colours ~ terrible.
2nd with the wind not much better and 2 late and too easy foe goals proved fatal!
3rd quarter we rallied and halted the foes march forward ~ acceptable standard!
4th qrtr we blew the foe off the park but catch-up footy with a ball made of stone and
the prevailing ill wind saw us kick poorly ~ we nearly pinched an underserved victory.

COACHES NOTES:
My negative: A little bit of “lack of respect” amongst the ranks for each other early in the piece,
and all should know this is will never be tolerated in any team that I am associated with.
My Positive: We nearly won the game from 1 & a half quarters and the foe know obviously that
when we play 4 quarters that they are no match for our might! E tan e epi tas!
