Lion of the Week. Jack Frazier

Match Summary: A great team effort for our first win this season. It

was good to see us use our handball game and really start to be

creative with our kicking. We have a much tougher game this week

against a team in the top four so lets keep training hard and we can

now look forward to the final 5 games of the season. Well done boys.

Next Rd: CPL v  Mt Eliza

U14
Rd 9
Score : Carrum Downs 79 def CPL 1.1.7

Goals :  Cam

Best players : Dylan , Bailey , Cody , Joel , Julian , Alex

We played the undefeated top team Carrum Downs , on a ground with

no change rooms , no coaches box , no anything. Don't know how they

fixture games there but that's another story.

We were easily beaten with the scoreboard coming down before half

time but I thought that we went alright. They did not have it all their

own way , and to our credit , we did slow their rate of scoring quite

considerably after quarter time.

Dylan was solid in defence , Bailey was hard at it all day but

sometimes you just need to accept that the opposition was too big ,

too fast and too good.

Training was good again last night and nobody has dropped their heads

yet despite the fact that we are yet to win a game.

Keep going boys as we have targeted a few games in the last few

rounds that will be our grand finals. Let's keep working towards that.

Go Lions!!

Best Players: Absolute team performance, special mention ~

Bulli, Charles,Tank, Shane Mac.

Lion/s of the Week/s:   Elliot Greenway (Carni) Copped a nasty

knock early and much to his disgust and disappointment could not get

back on the ground, was greatly missed on the ground and knowing

this lad’s endeavour will get back playing with along side his mates as

soon as humanly possible!

Match Awards:

*Matt Bulins (Bulli) ‘BOG’ ~ Hard no compromise run all day, set up

plays and repelled the foes attacks!

*Blake Hicks (Bleseree) ~ Tower of strength and discipline at CHF

or on the ball.

*Lockie Heller (Thunder Bird) ~ The other tower of strength and

discipline at CHB or in the ruck, even conjured up divine influence to

help in the snagging of a vital goal!

*Alex Bollen (Tank): 1sthalf the match = brilliant, front-runner for

best on ground. A knock to the knee, punch to the head and a boot to

the face saw his second half slow down a little to…to the level of great!

Harry Conway: (Bones) Solid in defence, another great team game!

Another victim of “off the ball stuff” that sore him unfairly sent from

the field but to his credit brushed it off ~ DISCIPLINED, well done!

Ben Turner (Wheels): Dangerous up forward all day and slipped

back in defence in the final moments of the battle to repel a dangerous

attack.

Training Award:

*Waanunga (Sparkles J) Never miss’s a session and has a real crack

when on the track!

* Evil Chicken Award   Great to report ~ no recipient/s

Match Summary:      Brave Victory! ~ Living by our Motto

United, prepared and with self-belief creeping into our psyche, we took

to the field and won a the day.

We knocked off the undefeated top side this day due to the following:

our Game-Plan slowly coming to the fore, our Team play, our Bravery

and our Discipline!

There were no passengers in this fight, all did the best they could

possibly do on the day!

The TEAM carried themselves with dignity and my support crew and

myself could not be any prouder!

OK being Coach I urge all Spartans to rejoice in the Victory and digest

the confidence, but come Tuesday we will be back hard at training, as

we have gone from Hunter to be the Hunted esp. with Seaford and

we also owe another couple of teams some Spartan treatment!

An ironical scenario~we beat the undefeated top team but slipped

down on the ladder a spot!!!!

My thanks to every combatant for their discipline, special mention to

Elliot, Steve and Joey for their bravery and hope their injuries heal

totally and quickly!    Also cheer up Chadders, get yourself right

over the next couple of weeks and you will be back amongst our

ranks    …E tan e epi tas.
